An End to Shaving?
Do you have unwanted hair somewhere on your body? Almost everyone does. Think about the time you spend shaving, not to mention the cuts. You also have to buy razors regularly.
You could opt for waxing, but that comes with its own issues. First and foremost, the pain involved. Also, you have to let your hair grow out somewhat for waxing to be effective and that means you have to endure that unwanted hair while it’s growing out.
There’s also the option of depilatory creams. If you can get past the smell, there is a good chance they will irritate your skin with their harsh chemicals. It’s also a messy, time-consuming method.
Is There a Better Option for Hair Removal?
If you’re tired of spending so much time on hair removal, consider laser hair removal. At Infinity Med-I-Spa we offer the best and most modern technology to assure comfortable and effective treatment for achieving smooth, hair-free skin quickly, efficiently, and affordably. During laser hair removal, a laser beam passes through the skin to an individual hair follicle damaging it with intense heat and inhibiting future hair growth. Laser hair removal can be used on any area with the exception of the eyelid and surrounding area.
The results of laser hair removal vary from individual to individual. Multiple treatments can prolong your results for years in some cases. However, regrowth of the hair removed is always a possibility. For best results, you might need four to six treatments spaced a number of weeks apart. Additional maintenance treatments, perhaps once every six to 12 months, might be needed as well. Once you see your results a determination of future treatments can be made.
Who is a Good Candidate for Laser Hair Removal?
Because laser hair removal targets the melanin in the hair, those with light skin and dark hair have the best results from this procedure. At the moment, laser hair removal isn’t generally effective for white, gray, red, or blond hair.
Preparing Before Your Visit
There are a few things to do before your visit to ensure the best results possible. Here are some tips to keep in mind.
Stay out of the sun. Because the treatment focuses on the melanin in the hair, a tan can make treatments much less effective. This includes sunless tanning such as with creams or spray tans. Avoid tanning of any kind for 6 weeks before your procedure if possible.
Refrain from plucking, waxing, and electrolysis before your visit. Shaving, on the other hand, is recommended since it leaves the hair shaft below the skin intact. You don’t want to do anything to disturb the actual hair follicle.
Finally, take before photos. You will want these later so that you can compare and see your progress.
What to Expect During Your Treatment
The big question many people have is does laser hair removal hurt. Depending on the laser your doctor uses, it could have a cooling device on the end. You’re likely to feel some discomfort as the laser damages the hair follicle. You’ll also feel a cooling sensation from the cooling device.
Your treatment could last anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours depending on the size of the area being treated. An upper lip treatment will be much faster than having both of your legs done, for instance.
After Your Treatment
It’s normal to experience some redness or swelling immediately following your treatment. An ice pack can help relieve any discomfort. Your doctor may also recommend a cream or OTC pain reliever.
