How Do I Get Started?
First, all you have to do is contact our office and set up an appointment. You’ll come in and we’ll have a consultation and talk about what you would like done. Try to stay out of the sun and refrain from doing any waxing or plucking. You are still able to shave if you need to, but some forms of hair removal can interfere with the laser hair removal process.
What Should I Expect?
The number of treatments you may need will vary depending on the amount of hair and how big the area you’d like to treat is. You will be given goggles to protect your eyes and the area may be trimmed so the treated area can be seen easier.
The doctor will use a handheld tool that pulses light into the hair. This will disable the follicle from growing hair again. There may be a little discomfort, but it won’t last long. Overall, your treatment should take up to an hour depending on the size of the area being treated.
Once your treatment is complete you may experience a little swelling, redness, skin irritation, or pigment changes. If you need to you can use ice or aloe to help with these temporary side effects. Try to avoid sun exposure for a while and take care of your skin. The number of treatments you need will depend on the size of the area you are having treated.
