Erbium Laser Resurfacing FAQ

by | Oct 3, 2022 | Services

Skincare is one of our daily routines. Some people do as little as washing their face, while others exfoliate, moisturize, and use scrubs and serums. No matter what your daily routine is, you expect certain results from the effort you put in. We know that sometimes as great as those things are, you don’t see the results you want.

We know you want to look your best and there is nothing wrong with that. Even those great routines need a little boost, and that’s where we have you covered. Especially with the treatment that we are going to talk about today.

What is Erbium Laser Resurfacing?

It’s a laser resurfacing that is designed to remove surface level lines from your face, neck, hands, and chest. In some cases deep wrinkles, acne scars, age spots, crows feet, droopy eyelids, sun-damage, warts, enlarged pores, and sagging skin can also benefit from this treatment.

Is it safe?

Many times when people hear the word laser, they automatically think of something from a sci-fi movie. These lasers are not those types of lasers. Erbium laser resurfacing is designed for minimal burning of the tissue. That means it is a less aggressive treatment and results in few side effects.

Is Erbium Laser Treatment Right for Me?

Erbium laser treatment works well with people of lighter skin tones and may not be the best option for people with darker skin. Also, some people who tend to get cold sores and fever blisters can have a reaction that causes a breakout. Please let the doctor know if you have issues with this. A consultation with the doctor will determine if this treatment will be right for you, or if there is another treatment we can use instead.

According to the American Board of Cosmetic Surgeons, it may be best to get this procedure during fall or winter to minimize sun exposure.

Call to set up a consultation when you’re ready. Rest assured, we have treatments available for everyone.

How do I Prepare for My Treatment?

Make sure you come to your appointment with clean skin. Also, make sure that you avoid heavy sun exposure or deep facial peels for at least four weeks before your treatment. Anything more specific will be instructed by your doctor.

What Should I Expect During the Treatment?

We will clean and numb your skin with a local anesthetic before the treatment begins. The treatment will take anywhere from 45 minutes to two hours, depending on the size of the area being treated. This is an outpatient procedure, so there is no hospital stay. When you are released, your doctor will give you instructions on how to take care of the treated area.

How Long is Recovery?

Recovery lasts about seven days.
